Deekshitha is pursuing an Astronomy major with a minor in Philosophy (2024-present).
Since Feb 2025, she has been working on black hole high-mass X-ray binaries and galactic dynamics to understand the origin of high-spin black holes in the LIGO/Virgo/Kagra data.
In 2025, she received the Exploratory Mini Grant award, securing a stipend of ~$5,000 to work on the above project with me. In 2026, the Astronomy Department selected her for the Galileo Circle Scholarship for her exceptional performance in her sophomore year.
Tulsi obtained her Bachelor’s in Medical Studies at ASU (2020-2024) before moving to UofA where she is now pursuing a Physics major with a minor in Mathematics (2025-present). Yes, she has a degree in medicine and is passionate about astronomy!
She is the current Vice President of the Astronomy Club at UofA (2026-2027) and is responsible for general communication between professors, observatories such as Kitt Peak Observatory, and other clubs.
Since Aug 2026, she has been working on detailed modelling of the pulsational properties of massive stars in binaries using the 1D stellar evolution code MESA.
